100 Years of Winnie-the-Pooh: Celebrating Bears in Children's Literature ExhibitIn Progress
Explore bear-themed books, artefacts and art from the Osborne Collection in honour of Winnie-the-Pooh's centennial in 2026.
From Bruin, Baloo, Rupert, Paddington - and Pooh, of course - to grizzlies, pandas and polar bears - this exhibition encompasses the real, the fictional, the iconic, the comic, and the cuddly bears of children's literature, showcased in both antiquarian and modern books.
The bear in myth and story has fascinated us for ages. Discover numerous incarnations of this beloved nursery companion, and see how a mighty and sometimes dangerous animal was tamed by authors and illustrators, and how he conquered the hearts and minds of children all over the world.
We also have a scavenger hunt activity related to the exhibit (suitable for children grade 1 and up)
Located on the 4th floor of the Lillian H. Smith Branch. Free. All are welcome. Registration is not required.
The exhibit can be viewed during the Osborne Collection's open hours. Contact the Osborne Collection at 416-393-7753 or email osstaff@tpl.ca for more information.
