Branch Art Exhibit: Works by WOO SEE-MING
Throughout February, works by artist WOO-SEE MING are on display at Forest Hill Library branch.
"WOO SEE-MING trained as an artist in a fancy, highfalutin, art-training institution many years ago and practiced art-making for many more years in a non-photography discipline. While that was happening, he landed in a polarized world that's increasingly on the brink of going up into a mushroom cloud. Until that happens, he’s decided to take as many pictures as possible for reasons he doesn’t know, in an art form he hasn’t mastered, to put out a message he can't quite express."
"WOO SEE-MING is a cultural “turducken” who is neither fully French-Canadian nor Chinese nor anything really, which is okay, but this sometimes makes him feel sad and happy and angry and lucky, in equal parts. Being and feeling out of place wherever he’s gone, and preferring to be left alone most of the time, makes Toronto the best and only place for him in this world."
This exhibit is part of TPL's Art Exhibits Space program. Toronto Public Library provides space for local artists to exhibit their work at locations across the city. These exhibits aim to reflect the diverse cultural interests of the city and its neighbourhoods.
The exhibit can be viewed during Forest Hill branch open hours.
