Spoken Word Workshop Series with Andrea Thompson
Registration is required for the following four workshops. Participants must have some prior experience in spoken word to register and be aged 17+. To register call 416-393-7085 or stop by the fourth floor information desk at Toronto Reference Library.
Workshop 1: The Craft of Poetry
Thursday April 30 - Jack Rabinovitch Reading Room - Participants will explore the fundamentals of creating well-crafted, evocative poetry with the use of techniques like sensory details, extended metaphor, figurative language, sound devices and more.
Workshop 2: Finding Your Voice
Thursday May 7 - Jack Rabinovitch Reading Room - Participants will explore strategies to help develop their own unique poetic voice and write courageously about issues affecting their own individual daily lives.
Workshop 3: Poetry in Performance
Thursday May 14 - Jack Rabinovitch Reading Room - Participants will focus on strategies and techniques to create powerful poetry performances, overcome stage fright and bring their writing to life on the stage.
Workshop 4: Review and Rehearsal
Thursday May 21 - Beeton Hall - Participants will prepare and rehearse for the final showcase event.
