Google AI Essentials: Online Learning Circle
Interested in learning about artificial intelligence (AI)? Let's learn the basics of AI in a welcoming space.
We will meet online via Zoom on March 12- April 2, 2026 from 2-4pm.
AI Essentials Learning Circles are study groups guided by staff for people who want to take the Google AI Essentials online course together in a welcoming space. Learners meet weekly and work together through the course materials. Participants are expected to commit to the duration of the course and attend all learning circle sessions.
Google AI Essentials is designed to help people across roles and industries get essential AI skills to boost their productivity. Zero experience is required.
At each session, you'll discuss the content of the course, have time to catch up on the course work, and learn about related library resources.
Google AI Essentials consists of 5 sections and takes approximately 10 hours to complete:
- Introduction to AI - Learn about foundational concepts such as machine learning and generative AI.
- Maximize productivity with AI tools - Learn how to use generative AI tools to increase productivity in completing work tasks.
- Discover the art of prompting - Learn how to write effective prompts to get better outputs using AI tools.
- Use AI responsibly - Learn how to lessen harmful biases and inaccuracies. Recognize the security risks of using AI in the workplace.
- Stay Ahead of the AI Curve - Learn how to stay up-to-date with the latest AI news.
Access to the course and certification are provided at no cost to individuals who participate in the learning circle.
Learners who complete the course will be able to:
- earn a certificate to be shared on LinkedIn and social media profiles
- download a certificate of completion
The registration process is a two-step procedure. First, participants must complete their registration through this page. After this step, library staff will follow up to request additional information in order to complete the registration.
Participants must have a valid Toronto Public Library card to register.
