Event description

Social and community connection are essential to our overall health and wellbeing. Yet in Canada we are seeing an increase in social isolation and loneliness across communities and different age groups. Join Dr. Kate Mulligan on Social Prescribing Day for an engaging discussion on the significance of social connection: what it is, why it matters, and how individuals and communities can find more meaningful connections. Dr. Mulligan will also discuss how social prescribing, a growing movement across Canada and internationally, is helping people find community and belonging.

Dr. Kate Mulligan is an Associate Professor in Social and Behavioural Health Sciences at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. She also serves as the Scientific Director of the Canadian Institute for Social Prescribing (CISP), a national collaborative dedicated to empowering individuals and communities to lead their own health and wellbeing, bridging connections across health and social sectors, and collectively building more resilient and connected communities.
