Event description

Think about the last time a movie made your heart race or brought you to tears. Chances are, the music had a lot to do with it. Film scoring is the art of using music to shape how an audience feels, and AI tools are opening up this craft to anyone with a story to tell.

In this session, you'll learn what makes a film score effective, from recurring musical themes to choosing the right instruments and timing music to match what's happening on screen. Then you'll put it all into practice by using AI tools to compose an original score for a short film. No prior music or film experience is required.

This program is part of the Innovator in Residence (AI and Music Production) program, which is designed to help beginner and intermediate learners build knowledge and creative skills and get hands-on with current AI tools in music production and learn about the history, copyright and ethics of generative music.
