Author Talk with Lola Reid Allin
This March, we will be having Canadian author, pilot, traveler Lola Reid Allin join us to talk about their memoir, Highway to the Sky: An Aviator’s Journey. Lola Reid Allin will talk about her experiences in the aviation industry, the highs and the lows, as well as talk about their experience in a career that’s considered ‘non-traditional’ for women.
In 1980, Lola earned her commercial pilot license and become one of a handful of women in North America licensed to fly for hire and reward. Lola explains the rewards of an aviation career and the challenges faced by women, then and now. She offers several possible reasons why women remain under-represented in commercial aviation (only 5%-7% of pilots are female!) and why aviation or other STEM careers lure few women. Lola is co-lead for the Education & Outreach Committee, First Canadian Chapter, Ninety-Nines International Organization of Women Pilots.
No registration is required, this is a drop-in program.
