Innovator in Residence Kick-Off Party!
What happens when a professional composer with over 25 years in film and television music meets artificial intelligence? It's complicated.
Join Joel S. Silver, TPL's Spring 2026 Innovator in Residence, for the launch of a 12-week residency exploring AI and music production at Fairview's Digital Innovation Hub. Joel has composed music for productions across CBC, Netflix, and NBC, and has spent the last decade navigating AI's growing role in the creative process — sometimes embracing it, sometimes wrestling with it, and always asking hard questions about what it means for musicians and creators.
In this opening event, Joel will share his journey from traditional composing to working with AI tools, including live examples of how he's used AI in his own professional music. Then it's your turn - you'll get a chance to try AI music tools for yourself and hear what they can do. Whether you're a musician, a curious beginner, or someone with strong opinions about AI, this is your invitation to join the conversation.
This program is part of the Innovator in Residence (AI and Music Production) program, which is designed to help beginner and intermediate learners build knowledge and creative skills and get hands-on with current AI tools in music production and learn about the history, copyright and ethics of generative music.
