Branch Art Exhibit: Lifeworks of Hedy Catherina Scambia presented by Carmelitta ScambiaIn Progress
Throughout the month of April, an exhibit titled Lifeworks of Hedy Catherina Scambia is on display at North York Central Library branch.
Hedy Catherina Scambia was born in Austria, where she graduated from the Vienna Academy of Art. Among her accomplishments are fashion designing, graphic arts, painting and sculpting. Hedy's favourite subjects were floral still life and portraiture. Her works are found in private and corporate collections and have been exhibited in many juried shows. She believed 'a day without painting is like a day without sunshine'. Hedy's works add colour, life and light to the many walls that they grace.
"Hedy Scambia has left a legacy of work for us to enjoy. Her brilliant florals uplift the energy and atmosphere of any room. In her portraits, she captures the very essence of the soul of each of her subjects. Her landscapes breathe with a calm and earthy charm. Hedy has gifted us with a vibrant body of work, which will live on and be appreciated by one and all."
This exhibit is part of TPL's Art Exhibits Space program. Toronto Public Library provides space for local artists to exhibit their work at locations across the city. These exhibits aim to reflect the diverse cultural interests of the city and its neighbourhoods.
The exhibit can be viewed during North York Central Library open hours.
Free. All are welcome.
