Excel Basics 1: Create a Simple Spreadsheet

An introductory class on Microsoft Excel for absolute beginners with little or no Excel experience.

In this first session, you will:

  • Learn the basic function and design of Excel files
  • Practice basic data entry for text, numbers, and basic functions: Sum, AutoSum and Average
  • Create and save your first workbook and worksheets

Upon completion of this class, you will be able to use Excel at a basic level.

Prerequisites: Basic mouse and keyboard skills are required.

Format: Hands-on with demonstrations

Excel Basics 2: Do More with your Data

An introductory class on Microsoft Excel for beginners with little or no Excel experience. Build on your basic Microsoft Excel skills and learn to use Excel data effectively.

In this second session, you will:

  • Practice data entry and formatting
  • Manipulate rows and columns
  • Create and copy simple formulas
  • Convert data to a Table then sort and filter
  • Create your first chart

Upon completion of this class, you will be able to get more from your data using tables, filters and charts.

Prerequisites: Excel Basics Part 1 or equivalent knowledge. Basic mouse and keyboard skills required.

Format: Hands-on with demonstrations

Excel Basics 3: PivotTables & Conditional Formatting

Build on your basic Microsoft Excel skills and learn to use Excel data effectively.

In this third session, you will:

  • Use Conditional Formatting to visualize data
  • Explore the power of PivotTables for data summary and analysis
  • Sort and filter the data in tables and using slicers
  • Take home practice data to improve your new skills

Upon completion of this class, you will be able to get more from your data using Pivot tables.

Prerequisites: Excel Basics 1 and 2 or equivalent knowledge. Basic mouse and keyboard skills required.

Format: Hands-on with demonstrations
