Sir Henry Pellatt and the English Trip of 1910
Mima Brown Kapches, an archaeologist and former Curator of the Royal Ontario Museum, presents and discusses her Canadian historical non-fiction book, The English Trip of 1910. This lively and fascinating account of a military expedition of over 600 Toronto men to Edwardian England, was paid for by Sir Henry Pellatt, the wealthy Canadian financier who later realized his dream of building the Casa Loma castle. The seven-week journey was covered by six reporters. One of them was 21-year-old Jim Brown, Mima’s father.
This program is presented by the Society and Recreation Department. Drop-ins are welcome.
