Journalism Series with David Silverberg: How to pitch your article ideas to editors
This lecture is presented by the North York Central Library's 2026 Writer in Residence David Silverberg, whose focus is on Journalism.
If you’ve always wanted to write for a news network, you’ll want to come to this talk and analysis of what makes a strong pitch. To impress editors, a pitch has to include several important journalistic ingredients…and your personality. First, learn how to find story ideas in your community and beyond. Next, you’ll be shown how those ideas can turn into compelling pitches. Examples of great (and not so great) pitches will show you why certain ideas attract an editor’s attention.
This lecture will be followed by Q&A
