Featured Event. Public Trust: An Interactive Artwork

on September 15, 2026, 10:30am to 5:30pm

Event description

How serious are the promises we make to one another, the vows we take, or the pledges made by our civic leaders?

Paul Ramírez Jonas’s interactive artwork, Public Trust, asks participants of all ages to examine the value of their word by declaring a promise that is recorded in a drawing they can keep. Each promise is then published on a large-scale marquee board and placed alongside commitments made by politicians, scientists, economists, companies and weather forecasters—all drawn daily from headline news.

Drop in and make your mark. Add your promise to this evolving public artwork and be part of a collective conversation about what it means to give your word.

Public Trust
is presented by The Bentway in partnership with the Waterfront BIA and in collaboration with Toronto Public Library and Harbourfront Centre.

This initiative is made possible by donations to the Toronto Public Library Foundation and is generously supported by the McConnell Foundation.
