Branch Art Exhibit: Tanveer KhanIn Progress
Throughout the month of October, Postcards of the Everyday by Tanveer Khan are on display at Morningside branch
Tanveer Khan is a Toronto-based photographer whose work captures the quiet beauty of everyday life in cities and along coastlines. She explores how neighbourhoods, streets, and architecture hold memory and belonging. Trained as an engineer, Tanveer brings a balance of precision and curiosity to her creative practice. Using 35mm film, she focuses on ordinary yet timeless scenes, creating images that invite reflection, nostalgia and a sense of connection across places and moments.
"I work with 35mm film to preserve the fleeting, ordinary moments that shape our sense of home — a streetcar slipping by, laundry strung above an alley, or the soft glow of a harbour at dusk. Having lived in India, the Middle East, and now Canada, I’ve come to see how neighbourhoods across the world share subtle echoes of one another. Through my camera, I collect these echoes like postcards from different cities — quiet stories stitched together through light, shadow, and memory."
This exhibit is part of TPL's Art Exhibit program. Toronto Public Library provides space for local artists to exhibit their work at locations across the city. These exhibits aim to reflect the diverse cultural interests of the city and its neighbourhoods. Free. All are welcome.
